Why Pearls Are the Perfect Transitional Jewellery for Late Summer to Early Autumn

I have always thought of pearls as the perfect transitional jewel, particularly for that late summer, early autumn shift.

I love the late-August-into-September feeling – post holiday tanned skin is fading, just as the sun's warm glow turns golden. It’s a time when I feel like new beginnings are on the horizon.

Pearls are a favourite of mine, whether I am using them in my designs for Roàmaci or I’m wearing them. I find myself reaching for the Peace Ritual Bracelet, Graceful Ritual Bracelet, or Harbour Ritual Necklace regularly, not just for their aesthetic but for their purpose too.

Here’s why I choose pearls time and time again.

  1. Pearls are easy to style as your wardrobe changes with the seasons

Pearl jewellery tends to be pretty understated. Pearls hold a quiet luxury that bypasses fast fashion trends and remains timeless. For this reason, I love wearing pearl jewellery as a constant while my wardrobe shifts across the two seasons.

Pearls are great to layer as a delicate piece amongst bolder summer jewellery –they have held their own this summer alongside the shell jewellery trend. They are elegant without being flashy and work perfectly worn with summer linen and bare skin, as they do over sweatshirts, blazers and heavier fabrics.

  1. Pearls have colour tones that work with the turn of the season

Pearls feature a beautiful soft lustre that bridges both cool and warm tones. They work with whites, neutrals and bold brights of summer wardrobes, but pair beautifully with warmer and deeper tones that many of us start reaching for in September.

Those creamy or slightly golden pearls, sit perfectly in the middle – they carry a look through the seasonal palettes without you needing to swap out your jewellery.

Pearls with cool tones show hints of blue or silver, while warm tones show hints of rose or cream which also make pearls perfect whether you have the fairest of complexions or the deepest skin tones.

  1. Pearls are the perfect pairing, any time

Summer or autumn, day or evening, pearls work every time. For the daytime they are great with linen shirts, sundresses, transitioning to light jumpers and chunkier knitwear as the temperatures turn cooler.

In the evening pearls look beautiful with slip dresses, structured tailoring or leather jackets. They are great for layering too, stacking pearl necklaces or mixing with gold chains and statement pieces for a transitional, textured look.

  1. There are many benefits of wearing pearls

Pearls promote wisdom and bring protection. They aren’t just beautiful, they are also renowned for their benefits that aid body, mind and soul. Various cultures have attributed healing powers to pearls for centuries.

I wear those pieces in the Ritual Collection that feature pearls to support the quietening of inner noise, softening my thoughts and anchoring me into serenity, wherever I go. They summon stability, security and calm, and encourage me to trust my instincts.

  1. Pearls are fairly easy to look after

Pearls are considered fairly easy to look after, as long as you follow a few simple rules.

Keep your pearls clean by wiping them with a soft, damp cloth after wearing. This is enough to remove any oils or perspiration.

Apply any perfumes or hairspray before putting on your pearls, as these can dull their natural lustre over time.

Store pearls separately from other jewellery to avoid scratches.

Restring your pearls every few years if you are wearing them often.
